17. Alzheimer's disease and other dementias in Canada

Right now, 747,000 Canadians have cognitive impairment, including dementia.

By 2031, this number will reach 1.4 million. By 2040, the economic burden of dementia will skyrocket to $293 billion per year.

There is no way to prevent Alzheimer's disease, although growing evidence suggests that you can reduce your risk by staying socially and mentally active, adopting a healthy lifestyle and protecting your head from injury.

At the Alzheimer Society, our vision is a world without Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

Help us achieve that vision and continue to provide Help for Today. Hope for Tomorrow...®
